The boat sunk off the Rhode Island coast, Vermont man was accused of murdering his mother over inheritance money.

He is also accused of assassinating his wealthy real estate developer grandfather to acquire millions of dollars in a separate investigation.

A New England man has been charged with the murder of his mother on the high seas, nearly six years after they were recovered from a life raft off the coast of Rhode Island with him.

When his grandfather John Chakalos was sleeping alone in his Windsor, Connecticut home in December 2013, his grandson Nathan Carman, then 28 years old, had previously been accused of shooting and killing John Chakalos, who was then 87.

According to a new indictment unsealed in Burlington, Vermont, Carman is accused of killing his mother, Linda Carman, 54, in September 2016 as part of a plan to acquire millions of dollars in inheritance money from his grandfather’s estate and affiliated family trusts.
