Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed what happened when he had lunch with Chelsea’s new owner Toddy Boehly.
Before the FA cup final with Liverpool on Saturday, Chelsea’s prospective new owner Toddy Boehly met with Thomas Tuchel, Emma Hayes, and the head of Chelsea’s youth development Neil Bath.
Thomas Tuchel shares his delight in meeting Todd Boehly in a 40 minutes Lunch before the FA Cup finals.
What did Tuchel say?
Thomas Tuchel said via Chelsea’s official website:” We had lunch together but it was in a room with everybody like players and staff”.
“It was friendly and open, a very informal meeting over lunch for half an hour or 40 minutes.
“We didn’t go into details. It was not the moment, only to get a feeling and say hello. We talked more about baseball but when the moment is right, we will share our opinions in more detail in the next weeks.
“He paid some money so I don’t think he’s keen to drop the ambition. That would be a big surprise. I am sure that he is ambitious to build a competitive Chelsea for the highest level.”
Thomas Tuchel lost his third final as Chelsea manager against Liverpool on Saturday and his second FA Cup final defeat.
However, Thomas Tuchel believes the defeat will not change Todd Boehly’s impression of him as the new Chelsea owner watched his new Club defeat.
He added:” We try to impress with what we do and we do that with full commitment and passion,’
“We played to the very limit with one of the best teams in the world at this moment and we did it now five times in a row against them.
“I was pretty impressed on the sideline from both teams and the way we played with the commitment and the quality to play a final but I didn’t think about impressing somebody else.
“We wanted to impress ourselves and take what we thought we deserved given the circumstances in which we arrived. We were ready to take it but we, unfortunately, didn’t.’
Meanwhile, Thomas Thomas insists he is proud of the team’s performance despite the defeat.
He said after the match: “Like in the last final, the Carabao Cup, no regrets. I told the team I was proud.
“We played 240 minutes of the final against maybe the most dangerous attacking team in the world and it’s 0-0. We lose on penalties and we are disappointed and sad, but at the same time proud because we showed everything that we need.
“I was sure during the match the momentum was on our side but unfortunately I was not right.”
He added: “Harder but not impossible. The best way is, to be honest, we have two days off and then we need to prepare. The season has not finished and we have goals to reach in the Premier League.”
“We have everything it takes to win trophies, we proved it by the way. We have a Club World Cup and a European Super Cup and I don’t feel sorry that this was at the beginning of the season and in winter.”
