Chelsea paid a record £98 million for Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan. However, The 29 years old Belgian international has failed to live up to expectations and he has been linked with a move back to Inter Milan.
There are reports that Chelsea will allow Lukaku to go on a season-long loan at Inter Milan for a fee of £20 million.
However, Chelsea technical Director, Petr Cech believes long-term injuries and COVID-19 were to blame for Romelu Lukaku’s bad season at Chelsea.
What did Cech say about the Lukaku season?
In an interview with Football Daily saying:” I believe he will have a great season.
“Last season we [saw] how strong he can be when he came. Unfortunately, the long-term injury he sustained against Villa slows everything down, and then he had Covid as well.
“We could see towards the end of the season when he was fit and ready to go how strong he is. We had a particular season with the Covid issues around Christmas. He was one of those players affected.
“I have full confidence he will bounce back and have a strong season.”
