The shooter outside Garfield High School is still at large. A 17-year-old student in Seattle, according to police, passed away after being shot while attempting to break up a brawl outside of his high school.
The event outside Garfield High School on Thursday was called a “extraordinary tragedy for the community” by Seattle Police Deputy Chief Eric Barden.
“Sadly, gun violence surfaced again today at our high school,” stated Barden, adding that the suspect, who fled the scene on foot and was dressed in a red sweatshirt, light-colored slacks, and white sneakers, is still at large.
“We believe that there was an altercation between some high school-aged students,” Barden said, “and it appears that our victim attempted to intervene and break up that fight.”
