The mass shooting that took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and in which 21 individuals lost their lives, was referred to by Texas Governor Greg Abbott as “a horrible act of evil.”
Students at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, were supposed to start their summer break this week; however, the funerals for the 21 people who were killed in a mass shooting the previous week have diverted a significant amount of the community’s attention and energy.
On Monday, the Hillcrest Memorial Funeral House held a memorial service for Amerie Jo Garza, who was 10 years old. At the same time, the other funeral home in town had a service for Maite Rodriguez, who was also 10 years old.
Later this week, there will be a total of eleven more funerals, one of which will be for Irma Garcia, a former educator who recently retired.
The funeral services for the 19 pupils and two teachers who were slain by a lone shooter on May 24 will continue for another two and a half weeks. These services are being performed to say farewell to the victims.
