For years, the ‘Last Generation’ climate group has infuriated tourists in Europe.
On Thursday, demonstrators from the climate activist organization “Last Generation” blocked the runway at the airport in Cologne, Germany.
Protesting against the usage of fossil fuels and air travel, activists recorded themselves on the runway asphalt. Numerous canceled planes and hundreds of stranded passengers are seen in photos taken from inside the airport.
The German organization frequently tampers with public transit and events, and in an effort to attract notice, they frequently vandalize historical artwork in public.”Billions of lives are at risk in this situation. For many, climate collapse is already a reality. The advantage of being able to do action about it is still with us. A woman sitting on the tarmac yells, “Please join OIL KILLS!” according to a translation.
Some protestors were seen sticking themselves to the runway in other pictures.

According to the group, eight of its activists had been arrested. Later on Thursday, it was verified that all eight had been freed.
In a statement released on Thursday, the German Airport Association (ADV) denounced the rally.
“Today’s airport inconveniences are the result of a coordinated criminal extortion scheme. This is not a nonviolent demonstration, nor is it about purportedly loftier objectives.” Ralph Beisel, managing director of ADV.
Protests by the Last Generation have often resulted in confrontations between participants and onlookers. The European media referred to a German woman as a “brutal blonde” last year when she pulled a climate change activist off of a roadblock in Bottrop, Germany.
