Best Places To Visit In Amritsar

Here is a list of some of the best places to visit in Amritsar:

1). Wagah Border

Wagah Border marks the borders between the two neighboring countries, India and Pakistan. You need to check out the Wagah Border ceremony that takes place every day before sunset. The major attractions of the ceremony are the lowering of flags and closing of the gates of the international border. This epic moment is highly recommended whenever you pass by Wagah Border. The moment will surely amuse the patriotic spirit inside you.

2). Golden Temple

Golden Temple is a popular tourist attraction, especially for Sikhism followers. This golden architectural marvel is situated right in the center of Amritsar. The langar session organised by the community is an absolute representation of brotherhood and unity. The shrine is surrounded by the beautiful Amrit Sarovar which enhances the beauty of this architectural masterpiece.

The Sikh museum is located right next to the shrine and is a great tourist attraction. If you are a great believer in humanity, then you should definitely check out Golden Temple. It might give you a reason to hold on to humanity and not lose your mind over everything going on in the world right now.

3). Jallianwala Bagh

History remembers the torment of the Jallianwala Bagh incident which shattered the entire nation into pieces in the year 1919. Visiting Jallianwala Bagh whenever you step into Amritsar is a clear representation of the patriotic flame inside you. The place witnessed a lot of suffering and bloodshed and also the perseverance of the people who were the victims of the cruel British government.

This public garden gives a clear picture of the suffering of the people in 1919 when hundreds of people gathered for the Baisakhi celebration. Head to Jallianwala Bagh and try to feel the serenity and patriotic feeling mixed in the air. This is the best opportunity to know your country better.

4). Partition Museum

This is the first-ever museum that showcases the torment and evil effects of merciless partition in the year 1947. It will be highly interesting to witness the newspaper clippings and photographs reporting the incident. This museum also contains some personal items donated by the people who lived at the time of the partition.

The Partition Museum is maintained by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (TAACHT). The goal of TAACHT is to establish this museum as a world-class museum that features the memories of the partition of the subcontinent in the year 1947.

5). Guru Ke Mahal

Guru Ke Mahal was constructed by Guru Ram Das in the year 1573. It features the Granth Sahib and their pious gurus. The holy book is placed on the raised platform so that the devotees can take the blessings from the holy presence. Any trip is incomplete without trying the popular street foods that single-handedly keep the region going! I can never imagine any place without the presence of the local mouthwatering street food! Kulchas, lassi, and jalebis are the major delicacies of Amritsar. You can have these finger-licking delights at Langar Ka Prasad, Kulcha Land, Friends Dhaba, Kesar Da Dhaba, and Surjit Food Plaza.
