Camp Pendleton, in the state of California, is the site of the Marine Corps Air Station, which served as the Marines’ primary place of residence.
The crew members of the military plane that went down in Southern California on Wednesday night with five United States Marines on board were able to identify the dead after the incident.
Cpl. Nathan E. Carlson, 21, of Winnebago, Illinois; Capt. Nicholas P. Losapio, 31, of Rockingham, New Hampshire; Cpl. Seth D. Rasmuson, 21, of Johnson, Wyoming; and Capt. John J. Sax, 33, and Lance Cpl. Evan A. Strickland, 19, both from New Mexico were identified as the deceased in a statement released by the Marine Aircraft Wing Communication Strategy and Operations office.
According to the Marine Corps Office of Inspector General, on June 8, 2022, an MV-22B Osprey in which the individuals were riding became involved in a collision in Glamis, California.
Sax and Losapio were the leaders of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 364, which is part of Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft MAW. The other members of the crew were all crew chiefs in that unit.
