According to authorities, a Texas man who shot and killed his companion after using meth has been given a 35-month prison term.
Erron Walker, 36, was slain by Sean Strout, 36, in October 2017 after a disagreement about items Strout is accused of stealing. According to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Strout was found guilty four days after the event.
Longtime friends Strout and Walker were hanging out at Walker’s place with another friend. Walker “believed Strout had stolen some money and a pair of sunglasses,” according to officials because Strout had been at the house the day before.
The third man exited the house as the two men fought over the stolen goods. Later on that day, according to a neighbor, shots were fired, and Walker was observed fleeing from his garage as additional shots were fired before he succumbed to his wounds.
On Thursday, Strout was given a 35-year prison term for killing Walker.
District Attorney Kim Ogg stated, “This individual was a danger who frequently decided to use meth and get violent.” He blew every second chance he was given, and in the end, he stole from a friend, which caused a fight that resulted in the friend’s murder.
The jury was informed that Strout had a lengthy criminal past, including the fact that on the night he was detained for murder, he was on probation for a robbery and had previously been detained for drug possession and theft on numerous occasions.
While he was still in custody, Strout hit another prisoner with a sock that weighted inside of it, leading to an assault accusation. Due to “throwing urine and excrement on a prison officer,” the district attorney’s office stated the man was also charged with harassing a public official.
