During the general election, Jessica Cisneros came within 281 votes of defeating her opponent, Henry Cuellar, in the contest for the seat.
In a few of the Democratic primaries in Texas that have attracted the greatest attention from the media, there have been calls for the votes to be recounted.
On Monday, Jessica Cisneros submitted a request for a recount of the election in which she competed against Representative Henry Cuellar, whom she ultimately prevailed by a sizeable margin. According to the Texas Tribune’s reporting, Cisneros came in second place, trailing Cuellar by a margin of 281 votes in the election.

On the same day that Cisneros made his appeal, Ruben Ramirez, a candidate in a different South Texas congressional election, asked for a recount as well. Cisneros is not the only candidate to do so. Michelle Vallejo came the winner despite only 30 votes being the margin of victory between first and second place.
