Gaines claims that the “spineless” Democratic males in Congress have failed to live up to their responsibility to their daughters by voting against the proposal.
Following the passage of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in the House of Representatives one month ago with no votes cast by Democrats, former college swimmer Riley Gaines called out Democrats on Thursday, accusing them of putting their political interests before of their obligations as parents. Gaines made her comments in response to the bill’s passage.
Near the end of April, the House of Representatives voted 219 to 203 in favor of passing the political bill that seeks to amend Title IX in order to prohibit schools that receive funding from the federal government from permitting biological males to participate in women’s sports. Republicans voted all of the “yes” votes, while Democrats cast all of the “no” votes; some Democrats said that Republican support for the Act constituted “bullying” of transgender athletes.
During the episode of “Jesse Watters Primetime” that aired on Thursday, Gaines stated that she doesn’t understand how “spineless” male senators with daughters could cave into political pressure and abandon their responsibilities as fathers to protect their children.
