Mexico international forward Ral Jiménez has joined Fulham from fellow Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, the teams confirmed on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old inked a contract extension until the summer of 2025, with an option for an extra year.
According to sources, Fulham agreed to pay a sum of £5 million ($6.42 million) for the former Club America and Atlético Madrid striker.
“I will try to do my best for the team, one of the most iconic teams in the Premier League,” Jimenez stated in Fulham’s release. “I’m happy to be here and to play in this stadium; it’s a really good stadium, and I like it here.”
“I’m going to do everything I can to continue scoring goals in the Premier League.”
Jiménez will be introduced by his new team during a friendly against Aston Villa on Wednesday at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
Jiménez’s signing comes amid concerns about the future of Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is being courted by Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
Jiménez will try to resurrect his attacking form at Fulham, who finished 10th in the Premier League last season, after a life-threatening brain injury in late 2020.
The target man struggled to have the same impact that earned him the Wolves’ 2019-20 Player of the Season award after returning from a lengthy layoff in the summer of 2021.
Jiménez joined Wolves on loan from Benfica ahead of the 2018-19 season and went on to score 57 goals for the Midlands club.
At the international level, Jiménez’s lack of minutes with Wolves last season deprived him of a spot on El Tri’s team for the Concacaf Nations League Finals in June and the recently concluded Gold Cup.
