Police in Wisconsin has opened a homicide investigation after finding a 10-year-old girl’s body.

As a major concern, the city’s police chief has asked residents to keep an eye out for any unusual activity that they may witness.

The body of a 10-year-old girl was discovered in a park in the town only 12 hours after her father had reported her missing to authorities. Police Chief Matthew Kelm is asking the people to be on their guard at all times.

Iliana “Lily” M. Peters’ father called the police at nine o’clock on Sunday night to report that his daughter had not returned from a visit to her aunt’s house, which was only a few blocks away.

Officers discovered her bicycle in the woods near a walking trail where she had gone missing the night before.
