Hezbollah keeps employing its “Fire for Fire” defensive strategy in the face of the Israeli regime’s intensified deadly aggression against Lebanon.
On Monday, 18 November 2024, the movement targeted Tel Aviv in the occupied Palestinian territories with several strikes, showing that it would not give in to the regime’s approach of escalating its deadly attacks on people in Lebanon to compel the resistance into adopting its terms, according to various resistance media outlets. It brought the city under salvos of ballistic missiles, at least eight rockets, and drones, wounding at least five people, one of whom sustained severe injuries.
Footage from the operation showed Israeli missile systems failing to intercept one of the rockets that apparently impacted directly into a downtown mall. According to Israeli police officials, the operation resulted in “a direct hit,” and “there are fears of building collapses.
Four explosions broke out in the targeted location, resulting in Israeli casualties in the city of Ramat Gan, east of Tel Aviv. A building and a bus were also struck, and a fire broke out in the city of Bnei Brak, which is also located east of Tel Aviv.
Other Israeli sources also reported that the attack led to the closure of the Ben Gurion, the government’s busiest airport, which is located in the central part of the occupied territories, adding that power outages had also been reported in some areas of “Greater Tel Aviv.”
Hezbollah described one of the operations as targeting the Tel Haim base, which belongs to the Israeli regime’s Military Intelligence Division in Tel Aviv, with a missile barrage and a drone squadron. The projectiles and the aircraft “hit their targets accurately,” the movement added.
The operations, part of the movement’s Khaybar series, were carried out under the slogan “We are at your service, O Nasrallah,” a reference to Hezbollah’s former secretary general, who was assassinated during intense Israeli airstrikes against Lebanon’s capital Beirut, in late September.
The group also added that the retribution was also to prove “support for the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their valiant and honorable resistance,” as well as to safeguard Lebanon in the face of the regime’s lethal escalation.
Since last October, Hezbollah has been carrying out hundreds of such operations against the northern side of the occupied territories when Israel started launching a genocidal war on Gaza and brought Lebanon under intensified deadly aggression.
More than 43,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed as a result of the devastating Israeli assault, and upwards of around 3,510 Lebanese.
On Monday, Hezbollah forces also launched a rocket attack on the Shraga facility, the administrative headquarters of the Golani Brigade Command located north of Akka. They used drones to fire airstrikes on Israeli forces gathered at the Ya’ara Barracks, the newly built headquarters of the Israeli military’s Western Brigade Command.
Hezbollah’s forces continued their strike on Tuesday, using a surface-to-air missile to shoot down an advanced Israeli Hermes 450 drone over the southern Lebanon town of Taybeh.
What will Hezbollah’s “Fire for Fire” strategy lead to next? Can it deter further aggression, or will it bring even more violence? The path forward remains uncertain as the conflict intensifies, leaving the region on edge.
