In Pakistan, militants assaulted a police compound, killing at least 23 soldiers and injuring dozens more.
The attack occurred in the early hours of the morning when an explosive-laden car crashed into the building in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, close the Afghan border.
The incident on Tuesday was claimed by a militant organization connected with the Pakistani Taliban.
The complex was being utilized as a base camp by the Pakistani army.
Several militants attempted but failed to enter the compound in the Dera Ismail Khan district before to the vehicle ramming, according to an army statement.
The group then rammed an explosive-laden truck into the compound’s boundary wall, followed by a suicide bombing that caused the building to collapse.
There are fears that the ammunition housed inside the property in the Dera Ismail Khan district exploded as well. According to an authority, many people were slain while sleeping.
According to the military, six attackers were killed. It went on to say that 27 militants were killed as a result of military operations in the area overnight.
The incident was condemned by Pakistan’s caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul-Haq Kakar and caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
The Tahreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), which established earlier this year, claimed responsibility for the attack on Tuesday.
After the hardline Islamist terrorist group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) withdrew from a ceasefire last year, attacks by militant groups in Pakistan have increased, notably in border regions with Afghanistan.
