According to the authorities, the building management found them unresponsive as they were working in a vacant apartment. They had been there for some time.
On Thursday, authorities claimed that fentanyl was discovered in the bodies of two maintenance workers who had been working at an apartment complex in downtown Los Angeles.
The individuals who passed away have been named Luis Garcia, age 31, and John Black, age 52, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Coroner. They were both employed in the construction industry. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a hazmat report was received just before one in the morning at an apartment complex located in the 800 block of South Olive Street.
The family members of one of the workers called the police after not seeing or hearing from the building administration since Wednesday evening. The manager went to check on unit 2205 at 5:45 p.m., as this was the last spot Garcia and Black were seen working. The police said that it was a Wednesday when the incident occurred.
