Walnut Park Elementary School in Gadsden was put into lockdown mode after the incident that occurred there.
On Thursday morning in Alabama, a resource officer reportedly shot and killed a man who was described as a “suspect” and who had tried to enter an elementary school.
According to Etowah County Sheriff Jonathan Horton, who spoke with the media, the gunfire started at 9:30 a.m. at Walnut Park Elementary in Gadsden after the suspect arrived and tried to break into vehicles and buildings.
Tony Reddick, the superintendent of Gadsden City Schools, was interviewed by a local television station. He stated that he received a phone call from the principal, who was in a state of extreme concern, and that he just couldn’t figure out what was going on. Having said that, I had a sneaking suspicion that this was going to turn out badly.
According to reports, a school resource officer with the Rainbow City Police Department responded to the incident and called for aid. After a violent altercation, the victim, who has not been identified, was reportedly shot, as stated by WIAT, which cited the police.
