What did Mason Mount say after breaking his England Goal drought?
The Chelsea academy graduate told the England Football Twitter page: “To score a goal at Wembley is such a special moment and hear the fans celebrate. It means so much. I haven’t scored in a while, so it was a good time for it to come.
‘I had to focus on making an impact when I came on. It was such a tough game and to be a couple down, it was tough to come back.
‘We showed how much desire and fight we have in the team, we showed that second half and we nearly won the game. There were a lot of positives we can take from it.”
Mason Mount also added that it has been his childish dream to play at the World Cup.
“The World Cup is what you dream of as a kid. It’s soon going to be upon us, and I can’t really put it into words that first game. I was lucky enough to be watching it in Russia as a fan. To feel that atmosphere and to hopefully be involved in it is going to be an unbelievable moment for us all,’ Mason said with a smile.
“We need to stick together. That is the most important thing. We showed in the second half that we can do that going forward.”
Meanwhile, Jorginho has revealed that Italy is gradually recovering from its failure to qualify for the World Cup.
The Chelsea defensive midfielder said: “After everything that happened, it was a struggle, but the game against England really fired us up and gave us more motivation. I try to learn from past mistakes and disappointments, which is also what the coach is passing on to the players he calls up.
“I felt something different in that game and it certainly helped. I think the reconstruction process has already begun. Now we’ve got to continue along this path, with motivation and the desire to win games. Every now and then, we will have to suffer. We have to do it all together, but I think we are on the right path.
“We have this opportunity to win the group and it’s up to us to take it. Hungary has proved themselves to be tough opponents and they’ll have passionate support from the crowd.”
Chelsea manager Graham Potter will be excited about the performance of his players whilst on international duty.
