Italian midfielder Marco Verratti shared his feeling when he won his first title with Paris Saint Germain in an interview with the club’s official website.
Marco Verratti joined Paris Saint Germain in 2012 from Pescara. the 29 years old Italian midfielder has 378 appearances for Paris Saint Germain and has won eight French Ligue titles. in a recent interview with the club website, Verratti shared his feelings when he won his first Ligue one title with Paris Saint Germain.
What did Verratti say?
Speaking in an interview with the club’s official website, Marco Verratti, said: “I think that the first title wasn’t easy to win. We battled in every match to win the three points. I can’t remember matches where we won by 4 or 5 goals. There were also grounds where it is more difficult to play, like Bastia and Ajaccio, they are both very tough grounds to play at and win at! We needed to play and win, sometimes not in style, but we needed to take the points. We were a strong team, even though we weren’t spectacular, but we always gave our all.”
“I remember that the celebration of the first title was incredible, in the streets of Paris. People were crazy around us! I hadn’t experienced that before then, it was my first trophy and it is always obviously slightly different. They aren’t necessarily more important, but they are the ones that stay with you forever.”
Marco Verratti also reflected on the just-ended season with Paris Saint Germain, a season in Paris Saint Germain won the Ligue title but saw their hopes of winning the Champions slipped through their hands after were eliminated by eventual champions Real Madrid.
Verratti added: “There were lots of special moments this season. From the outside, people often think that it’s easy for us because we are Paris Saint-Germain, that matches are won in advance. But we always work hard to ensure we win. I could never forget the match against Lens because we took home the title. When you see the number of players that have won this trophy, and the number of players who would like to win it. It’s something special.”
Marco Verratti won his eighth Ligue one title with Paris Saint Germain and He has shown no time to slow down.
He continued: “I could never have imagined it. When you start playing football, you dream of winning titles at the top level. Lots of players have played for the Ligue 1 title, but some will never win it. I have won eight now, and all of them have been incredible, from the first to the last. It’s something that will remain at the very center of my heart, it’s very difficult to win it. When you are a footballer, you dream of that, and I couldn’t be happier.”
Verratti added: “I have been here for 10 years. I have always given my all to the club. Sometimes things go well, other times less well. But I always give my all to the club. It’s a club that has taught me a lot and given me so much too. And that’s why I will always respect the club. I have made my passion my job here. I will always be grateful to Paris Saint-Germain.”
Next season will be Marco Verratti’s 11th season with Paris Saint Germain and he will hope, Paris saint Germain wins the Champions League.
