The Fa Cup semi-finals clash between Manchester City and Liverpool at Wembley will be the third time the two sides will be meeting this season.

The previous two ended in a 2-2 draw. Both teams booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League this week. Man City is set to face Real Madrid while Liverpool entertains Villarreal.

Manchester City edged out Atletico Madrid on 1-0 aggregate thanks to Kelvin De Bruyne’s only goal in the first leg at the Etihad. the second leg ended in a stalemate.

The Citizens had played Swindon Town, Fulham, Peterborough United, and Southampton on their way to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

Liverpool on the other hand played in a 3-3 draw thriller with Benfica in the Champions at Anfield, the draw was enough to ensure the Reds booked their place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Jurgen Klopp’s side knocked Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City, Norwich City, and Nottingham Forest out of the tournament to reach the FA Cup semi-finals for the first time since 2014-15.

Kayle Walker and Kelvin De Bruyne will miss the match after sustaining injuries during Manchester city’s draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Cole Palmer will not be available for selection due to injury.

After the game, Pep Guardiola said: “We are in big trouble,” 

“We played three days ago, now we have a lot of injuries, I don’t know what will happen in the next few weeks.”
