League of Legends or LOL which belongs to MOBA category of online games, keeps to be one of the most played games in the whole world, even though it was released back in 2009. Constant updates and new champions incoming from the developers and balance teams of Riot Games, really keep the game going just as and even more popular than at its launch. League of legends total player count has reached 180 000 000 monthly players in 2023. According to the analysis the market for the game is still growing (which means that the number of players starting this game is higher than the number of the ones who quit), even though it has been released for more than 13 years.
The game is completely free to play, and you can download it immediately from its main website. You can also find some essential information directly on the website, however the depth of knowledge needed to be able to understand game fully, is much larger.
Of course, there are also microtransactions in this game, however they only affect the visual part of the gameplay and don’t boost or change anything about power of the players. In order to purchase those visual modifiers, you need to purchase Riot Points with the real money and then choose and buy the skin you like in the store in the game.
How does the game work?
One of the most interesting aspects of the game is the fact, that you are actually competing against the real players and trying to prove that you are better than them. In each match there are 10 active players involved (5 aside). Each one is controlling one character or so-called champion. Control your champions by using the keyboard and mouse together. The mouse is used to control movement: right-click to move, attack, and select; left-click to choose. Each champion has access to five unique skills, four of which can be activated using the Q-W-E-R keys and one of which is a passive (requiring no input). Every champion has its own strength and weaknesses and sometimes you need several years of experience to be able to fully utilize its power.
In order to be able to play the champion you like, you need to purchase it first (either with in game currency, which you are receiving after playing games or Riot Points which we have mentioned before.) You only have 3 refunds, and the blue essence (in game currency) is not so easy to get, so be careful with your choices. Try watching some videos about the champion you like or contact Elounion team, the professionals, in order to get the most efficient advices during their League of Legends Coaching session.
How to win a League of Legends match
In order to win a match, you just need to destroy enemy team’s main building in their base – Nexus. Sounds relatively easy, doesn’t it? Jokes on you, it is not. There are whole bunch of things which play a tremendous role in the fate of the game. There are 3 neutral objectives on the map Dragon, Rift Herald and Baron Nashor. Nashor spawns only at 20. Minute and is the hardest thing to kill. All these neutral monsters give you and your team specific buffs which will most likely be the main key for the victory. But be very careful when trying to secure those objectives, because even due to one small mistake enemy team can steal it.
Is LOL a difficult game?
Even though at the first glance it may not seem so, the game itself is super complex and needs a lot of time to fully adapt. There are a lot of mechanics which you need to learn, constant critical decision making, game sense and many other aspects which are making this game so interesting to play. But don’t be afraid, it is really a fun game where you can fully enjoy your time spent with your friends. However, in order to be superior over the others, don’t forget to pay attention to those details, because these really do matter.
From their side, they as Elounion will do their best to help you out, especially at early stages of the game. Give them a try and good luck with your games on the summoner rift!
