With the future of Sadio Mane in doubt, Jose Enrique believes the acquisition of Bowen or Bukayo Saka could help the Reds win the Premier League and the Champions Leage next season.

Jarrod Bowen was one of the top performers in the Premier League last season. A performance that saw the West Ham attacker being nominated for the Premier League player of the season and also earn him a call up to the England National Team.

Bowen achieved a double-figure in both goals and assists this season in the Premier League. Jarrod Bowen scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 51 appearances for West Ham last season including 12 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League.

Bukayo Saka was arguably Arsenal’s main man in their quest for a top-four finish last season. The gunner missed out on a Champions League football to Tottenham Hotspurs after losing to Newcastle and Tottenham.

Saka scored 12 goals and provided 7 assists in 43 appearances for Arsenal and was also nominated for the Premier League player of the season.

Liverpool saw their quest for a quadruple slip through their hands after losing the Premier League on the final day to Manchester City and also losing 1-0 to Real Madrid in the Champions League finals. but managed to win FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Steven Gerrard who had earlier on shared the same sentiment with Jose Enrique that Liverpool needs to reform their squad this season.

What did Jose Enrique say?

The Former Liverpool left-back told Genting Casino: “We need a back-up for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Trent will start so we need a younger player to put Trent on his toes.

“Max Aarons from Norwich would be a good player to have. He’s not the quality of Trent but he’s a bit like Kostas Tsimikas with a similar style.

“We need a starting number eight. Thiago Alcantara is brilliant, but he has injuries every season. Naby] Keita has the same injury problems, [Jordan] Henderson is getting older, so we need a number eight for sure.

“I don’t know too much about the Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni but you look at Luis Diaz and the recruitment usually gets it right.

“We also need a right-winger and I think Jarrod Bowen or Bukayo Saka could be a great shout as they’re both not playing in the Champions League so it’s a big possibility.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool Icon Danny Murphy believes Liverpool should make the signing of a midfielder their priority.

Danny Murphy claims Liverpool should target Declan Rice or Kelvin Philips this summer as Jordan Henderson and James Milner are not getting any younger.

Speaking with the Liverpool Echo, He said:‘I don’t think they need to go heavy on forwarding players.

‘My thing is if you look in the midfield area, defensively they’re fine. They’ve got lots of covers, I don’t know if Milner will stay, Ox will probably go, but I’m not sure Keita’s the answer.

‘So that midfield three of Thiago, Fabinho, Henderson is phenomenal but Thiago does struggle with injuries and you can’t expect Jordan to keep playing 45-50 games, he’s in his 30s now.

‘I’d be going all out for Rice or Phillips. English, hungry, someone you know will be around for a long time, can come in and hit the ground running, that’s where I’d be looking.’
