Reasons to Take Supplements

Sometimes, if you’re thinking about supplements, you may wonder if taking them is necessary. Some people have dietary restrictions that keep them from getting enough vitamins. Diets like paleo, keto, or vegan cut out certain food groups altogether, putting individuals at a higher risk of not getting specific nutrients.

Individuals who want a vitamin “insurance policy” may consider supplements. High-quality multivitamins are another way to cover all of the essential daily nutrients. People over the age of 50 may want to consider taking supplements because they have an increased need for vitamin D, B12, and calcium.

Pregnant or lactating women have additional nutritional needs and should consider taking supplements to ensure they meet the daily recommended requirements. Vitamin C, Vitamin D, calcium, zinc, and folic acid are among the most important for this group. Prenatal vitamins can meet this need.
