The authorities in Istanbul had previously issued a ban against the march before it happened.
On Sunday, law enforcement in Turkey broke up a pride parade for the LGBT community and detained a large number of attendees.
According to reports, journalists in Istanbul were prevented from filming or photographing the event by members of the local police force. One of the photographers working for Agence France-Presse has reportedly been taken into custody.
It is not clear how many people participated in the MARCH; however, there are photographs from the event that appear to show police officers engaging in physical altercations with demonstrators.
The mayor of Istanbul forbade any sort of public demonstration for seven days in preparation for the pride march.
