Officer Houston Tipping suffered injuries to his spine, which ultimately led to his passing.
A claim for wrongful death has been submitted against the city of Los Angeles by the mother of a Los Angeles police officer who claims that her son was killed during a training exercise that was designed to simulate a mob.
Houston Tipping, a police officer who was 32 years old, passed away on May 31 while participating in training. The Los Angeles Times reports that a veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department who has served for five years has suffered severe spinal damage and head trauma.
Tipping’s mother, Shirley Huffman, has not yet brought a claim for wrongful death in her daughter’s case.
According to a report from the Times, Police Chief Michael Moore noted that Officer Tipping impressed his superiors with a “willingness to go the extra mile to establish a better atmosphere.” This was indicated in Officer Tipping’s claim. Despite this, additional police officers shot him, crippled him, and ultimately killed him in open violation of the law and his constitutional rights.
