Heyward Patterson has been serving as a deacon at the community church for the past few decades. He is currently 67 years old.
On Thursday, Deacon Heyward Patterson, 67 years old, was killed by gunfire while grocery shopping in Buffalo, New York, for the church’s food pantry. He was in the supermarket to buy food for the pantry. Friday was the day that his funeral was held, and it was held at the Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church.
Patterson was one of ten people the gunman shot and killed as he entered the building carrying an AR-15 rifle. There were three more people hurt in the accident.
An obituary that was published by the Thomas Edward Funeral Home states that he will be remembered fondly by a great number of individuals.
