Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has aimed a fresh dig at his former manager. The 24 years old striker made 82 appearances for Chelsea scoring 30 goals in the process.
He used to be a regular starter for Chelsea under Frank Lampard and was Chelsea’s top scorer under Frank Lampard.
However, the English international lost his place in the starting lineup when Thomas Tuchel took over.
Chelsea sold Tammy Abraham to Roma for £34 million last summer to make room for their record signing Lukaku.
The move to the Serie A club seems to be the best decision he has ever made, Tammy Abraham has been a revelation since joining Jose Mourinho at Roma.
He is currently in the form of his life, scoring 24 goals across all competitions and beating Gabriel Batistuta’s record of most goals scored in a first season for the Italian club, which he set in 2001.
Abraham believes he is at the right place and Jose Mourinho has helped restore his confidence, something he lacked last season at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.
What did he say?
He told BBC: “To do what I’m doing now for a great club like Roma, I can’t really describe the feeling.”
“Coming off the back of a difficult season at Chelsea where I wasn’t really playing games to come here and shine again, it’s like a dream come true.
“I’ve always been a player who never lacks confidence. From a young kid, I’ve always scored goals and wanted to win. Even when I score in training I celebrate like it’s a match.
“It was all about being in the right place to bring out the real me. I’m learning more about myself every day.
“It’s been a good season. It’s not over yet, we have important games to play and my focus is on this game and winning.
“It was all about someone believing in me. The past manager – Frank Lampard – gave me that chance, he showed real faith in me and that’s when I was producing. It’s the same now.
“When you have the belief from the manager it makes you want to do the best you can. It’s just confidence.”
Tammy Abraham says he is happy at Roma amid Arsenal reports
The former Chelsea striker has been linked to a possible transfer move to Arsenal after A successful season with Roma but he insists he is happy at the Serie A club.
‘I’m happy playing my football. Of course, you hear the little rumors here and there, different people are interested, clearly, for me, I’m doing the right thing if people are watching.
‘Give credit to my teammates, the staff, the manager, they have a big part to play in how well I’m doing.
‘For me, as I said, I just want to go all the way and hopefully win a trophy.
‘I was born and raised in England, so of course, there are many rumors here and there that there are clubs interested.
‘As I said, I’m clearly doing something right at Roma if people are interested.
‘I just have to stay focused, keep doing my thing, keep playing my football, focus on this competition, where we finish in the league, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
‘For now, my main focus is beating Leicester tomorrow.’
