The American lost his place in Chelsea’s starting lineup under Thomas Tuchel following injuries and unconvincing performances whenever given the chance to play.
He made 22 appearances last season in the Premier League, of which he started less than 14 of these games. His lack of playing time last season resulted in his father blasting Thomas Tuchel on Social Media.
However, Christian Pulisic has revealed via ESPN that he is ready to fight for his position on the Chelsea team.
Christian Pulisic said: “I’m feeling good going back, honestly.
“I have a fresh start now, and I’m excited to play for the new manager. So really just looking forward to it.
“I just have to prove myself, as everyone does, and as I’ve done before.”
Pulisic added he is not panicked about USMST chances at the World Cup after losing 2-0 to Japan.
“I’m not panicked at all,” Pulisic said after Tuesday’s game. “We have a fresh slate going into the World Cup and we’re going to give it everything that we have… I know that we’re gonna do well.
“I think we have quality on the ball, but I think there are times where we can use our strengths a bit more and be sort of a nasty and difficult team to play against. I think we saw glimpses of that tonight.”
Meanwhile, former American soccer star Brian Dunseth has described Christian Pulisic as over-hyped and cannot be trusted.
Brian Dunseth said on his SiriusXM podcast: “You can’t trust Pulisic.
“As much as you want to believe in Pulisic, as much as he’s been hyped to be the everything that everybody thinks he can be or wants him to be, the reality is he’s not.
“He’s a really good player, but he is a complimentary piece. He is not a focal point, and that’s what people have to understand… Pulisic makes your team better, but Christian Pulisic isn’t going to be the guy that is the Christian Eriksen of the US men’s national team.
“[The guy] that becomes the tempo player, the connecting player, the guy that’s going to create something out of nothing, the guy that’s going to hit a final pass every single time or is capable of the final pass every single time.”
The last time Christian Pulisic scored for the US Men’s National Team was in march when he scored a hat trick against Panama in a World Cup qualifier.
