Former Republic of Ireland international Tony Cascarino has Urged Chelsea to replace Christian Pulisic with Manchester City and England international Raheem Sterling.
Raheem Sterling is keen to make a move from Manchester City this summer in search of regular game time. The England international in the recent season has lost his place in the Manchester City starting lineup to Phil Foden after a recent run of poor form.
Chelsea has identified the 27-year-old attacker as one of their targets this summer with the futures of Christian Pulisic, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech in doubt.
Christian Pulisic was purchased for £58 million as the replacement of Eden Hazard from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. The 23 years old initially was doing well but his performance has declined after suffering an injury against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
Pulisic lost his place in the Chelsea starting lineup under Thomas Tuchel last season despite helping Chelsea in winning the Champions League two seasons ago. Thomas Tuchel now prefers Mason Mount and Kai Havertz on the wings.
The 23 years old attacker started only 13 of Chelsea’s Premier League games last season. A development that resulted in his Dad criticizing Thomas Tuchel on social media.
However, Tony Cascarino who is not happy about Christian Pulisic’s situation at Chelsea believes it will be prudent for Chelsea to let the American international leave this summer and bring Manchester City’s, Raheem Sterling.
What did Tony Cascarino say?
In an interview with talk SPORT, Tony said: “I thought Pulisic would be a great player for Chelsea when he signed for £50million. I thought he would be a top player for them. But it hasn’t worked for him because of injury.
“One thing Raheem has got is he’s very durable and touch wood he’s been free of injuries. He’s a very durable player. You can switch him on the right as well so he’s a bit more versatile as a player.
“I could see Chelsea attempting to get that sort of wide player for Tuchel. Why wouldn’t you? His numbers, he creates, he just stretches teams, pace always stretches teams.
“If you want to counter teams, Raheem is good in counter-attack play because he’s so devastating with his place.”
Juventus are reported to be interested in Christian Pulisic. Manchester City is willing to let Raheem Sterling leave if they get the right off. The England international has only one year left on his contract at Manchester City and Chelsea can buy him this summer or wait till 2023 and get the play for free.
The Blues are not the only team who want Sterling Arsenal and Barcelona are also interested in the Manchester City star. Thomas Tuchel Is also reported to be interested in Manchester City Gabriel Jesus.
