Dick was born on 21st December 1965 in Charleston, South Carolina in the United States. He was named Andrew Thomlinson at birth. He is 57 years now; Allen and Sue Dick adopted him when he was born. His new parents gave him a new name, Andrew Roane Dick.
His father Allen was a navy officer. He was raised as a Presbyterian. He spent most of his time in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Yugoslavia with his family as a child. They later relocated to Chicago in 1979. Dick went to Lassiter High School. During his senior year in high school, he appeared in several theatre shows. He became homecoming king and in 1984 he graduated from Joliet West High School.
