A kid from Washington died after becoming trapped inside a burning mobile home early Sunday, according to fire officials.
Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue said firefighters arrived at the Three Rivers Mobile Home Park in Snohomish about 4:33 a.m. after neighbors reported a fifth-wheel camper on fire.
A family of four was said to be in the RV when the fire started.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they discovered that three individuals had left the flaming mobile home however, a teenager remained trapped inside, according to fire officials.
In the area where the boy was allegedly trapped, crews started working to put out the fire and launched a rescue attempt. According to the authorities, once the fire was put out, firefighters discovered the teen deceased in a sleeping space in front of the mobile home.
Neighbors informed KING-TV that the teen’s family was inconsolable.
Dalen Thompson remarked, “You could really see it in the dad; just… he was dead inside.” “He was dead inside.”
According to fire officials, there were no other injuries recorded, although the fire did damage a nearby trailer.
The cause of the fire is being looked into by the Snohomish County Fire Marshals Office.
When the temperature starts to drop, fire officials advised the public to keep combustibles such furniture, clothing, and drapes at least three feet away from heat sources. This is especially important when multiple people use various heat sources.
According to the agency, smoke alarms need to be placed in every bedroom, outside of every bedroom, and on every floor of the house, including RVs and trailers. They also need to be tested on a regular basis.
Fire officials urged locals to routinely rehearse their escape routes.
