Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel revealed today at a press conference that Chelsea will miss four key players in their Premier game against Wolves on Saturday.
N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Ben Chilwell are all set to be sidelined at Stamford Bridge.
According to Thomas Tuchel, N’Golo Kante could play a part in the game but it is too early to decide.
Jorginho sustained an injury during Chelsea’s defeat to Everton at the Goodison Park on Sunday.
The Italian Midfielder was substituted in during the first half break and was replaced by Mateo Kovacic.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been out of action and sidelined since February due to an Achilles problem, which has seen him miss a large chunk of the campaign.
Although the 21 years old started training this week, his return date is still unknown.
Ben Chilwell on the other hand is not expected to return till next season despite the England international resuming training.
What did Thomas Tuchel say?
“For N’Golo, it comes too early,” Tuchel said in his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon. “Jorgi is out as well. Callum is still out, and Ben Chilwell is out. The rest are available.”
Chelsea has been drawn into a top-four battle with Arsenal and Tottenham after a recent run of poor form.
The Blues are currently third on the Premier League table on sixth-six points(66), three points above Fourth-placed team Arsenal who are on sixth-three(63) points, and five points above fifth-placed Tottenham who are on sixth-one (61) points.
Chelsea will play Wolves on Saturday knowing that a win over them will keep their top-four hopes alive.
However, Thomas Tuchel Believes Chelsea is an elite Club and Could overcome the recent poor form that has seen them drawn into a top-four battle with Arsenal and Tottenham.
“There are many reasons why it is normal to drop intensity or effort, but we are an elite sports team, and there is not much room for normal behavior,” the Chelsea head coach revealed.
“We need to step up and show another reaction and can play better. Start from there tomorrow.”
Meanwhile,Thomas Tuchel believes Chelsea must work hard and be determined if they want to expand the point gap between them and the other top-four contenders.
When Tuchel was quizzed on the Challenge of Arsenal and Tottenham he said: Absolutely. What we need to install and want to install anyway is to be in the mentality and mindset on a daily basis, or every three days, whatever it takes, no matter if it’s a cup game, Champions League or a normal league game. This is where maybe we need to close the gap as well. There are reasons for it why the gap is that big. Maybe why the teams behind us could catch up. There is no reason why it should continue like this. The next moment to stop it is tomorrow. I am absolutely convinced that we have enough reasons to trust us and believe in us. There is no need for major doubts.
What took us there is most important. That was hard work, determination, and big effort. This is what we need on the highest level. Once we drop, not insignificant matters a little here and there, we are also a team that can lose or drop points against everybody, and we don’t want that.
