Two Turkish police officers were killed by a 16-year-old boy in a gun attack on a police station in the western Turkish city of Izmir on Monday, the interior minister said.
Izmir has been subjected to militant attacks in the past, including a car bombing that killed two people in 2017, but officials provided no information about the likely purpose for Monday’s incident in the city’s Balcova area, which also injured two officers.
