Shannon Brandt will make his initial appearance in court on Thursday, where he is anticipated to enter a guilty or not guilty plea.
Brandt, 41, was arrested after police claim he fatally struck 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson with an SUV in the early morning hours of Sept. 18. The event occurred following a street dance at a nearby pub in McHenry, North Dakota.
Brandt will appear in court for the first time on Thursday at 9 a.m.
Prosecutors claim Brandt originally fled the scene and told a 911 operator that Ellingson was a member of a “Republican extreme group,” and that he was summoning others to come “get him.”
