In just over an hour, the alleged shooter, Salvador Ramos, is said to have slain 19 children and two adults, both of whom were teachers.
When it was revealed that officials waited outside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas for more than an hour during Tuesday’s shooting rampage, a Republican senator from Texas named John Cornyn stepped out in support of law enforcement.
After a complicated event, pointing the finger at the people who responded to it is “distracting and unfair,” according to Cornyn.
