According to Mexican authorities, seven people were murdered when the roof of a church collapsed on Sunday.
ABC News confirmed with Mexican officials that the collapse of the Iglesia Santa Cruz Catholic church in Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico, imprisoned between 30 and 40 individuals. A baptism was witnessed by about a hundred persons.
Following the catastrophe, the Tamaulipas government issued a statement admitting the cathedral’s collapse and the number of victims.
“Today at 2:18 pm, there was a collapse of the roof of the church of the Holy Cross in Cd. Madero, presumably due to a failure in its structure,” according to a statement made by local authorities. “Security and civil protection corporations arrived on the scene.”
