The Race for this season top four finish is already heating up. With the current Premier League table and based on the current form of the club, two Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Chelsea might miss out on the top four.
Arsenal are in contention of qualifying for the Champions League for the first time since 2017. The Gunners are first in the Premier League with 31 points after 13 matches with a game in hand. Arteta’s side have lost only one Premier League.
Champions Manchester City are second with 29 points, with two points separating Manchester City and Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspurs fought back from two goals down against Bournemouth to retain their third spot. Antonio Conte’s side are on 26 points.
Newcastle United continues its resurgence under Eddie Howe since the Saudi takeover. The Magpies are third in the Premier League after back-to-back wins over Tottenham and Aston Villa.
Chelsea dropped out of the top four after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United and a defeat to Brighton. Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League. Manchester United are fifth after a win over West Ham United.
However, Rio Ferdinand had revealed that he would bet on Arsenal, Manchester City, and Manchester United to make the top-four finish this season. He also tipped Newcastle United to make a top-four finish, snubbing Chelsea and Liverpool from his top four Predictions.
Which clubs made Rio Ferdinand’s top-four prediction?
The Former Manchester United defender said on Vibe with Five: “It will be Arsenal, Man City, and Man United – they are the three teams I would put my house on now.
“And then the fourth one I can’t pick. Newcastle could come in and take it.”
Meanwhile, Gary Neville has also tipped Manchester United to make the top four after winning over West Ham.
Gary Neville said on SkySports: “I think they have a great chance of finishing in the top four now. A great chance.
“I think there is enough around Chelsea, Liverpool, and Spurs that United will feel they can push through that bunch. I never would have thought that four or five weeks ago.”
Jurgen Klopp has warned his side that they would miss out on the top four if they don’t improve.
The German international said after Liverpool’s shocking defeat to Leeds United: “That is actually not my main worry.
“There are a lot of other worries, but of course, I am not that dumb that I don’t know about distances and who is up there.
“But we cannot qualify for the Champions League if you play as inconsistent as we do at the moment. We have to fix that and then we will see where we will end up.
“We know everything is possible, or a lot of things are possible. But for that, we have to win football games and we didn’t do that often enough yet.”
Arsenal could make a huge statement if they managed to pull a win against Chelsea at Stamford bridge.
