Arsenal Legend Ian Wright has urged Mikel Arteta to give Jorginho more playing time in their title race with Manchester City. The Gunners are one point behind Champions Manchester City, having played more games than Manchester City.
Jorginho was excellent against his former side Chelsea on Tuesday when Arsenal defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League. Ian Wright believes the Italian should play more roles in Arsenal’s remaining Premier League games against Newcastle United, Brighton, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves.
What did Ian Wright say?
He told The Ringer podcast: “We have recruited well, and the guys that have come in have played well and scored goals.
“Martin Odegaard has 14 Premier League goals from midfield, that’s the standard he’s set, and he’s got to get love for that.
“But can I also say something about Jorginho? I really would like to see Jorginho play in the team regularly now.
“I’m sorry, but the way he controls the game for us, him and [Oleksandr] Zinchenko in there as well, but then once it gets to [Martin] Odegaard, the man is like an artist, [it’s] beautiful.”
Ian Wright has also revealed that he is concerned about the form Bukayo Saka and advised Mikel Arteta to drop him for the upcoming games.
“Maybe Saka should get a little bit of a rest.
“I think a little rest. Maybe my mouth is going too quickly for my brain; in this situation, we can’t afford to lose any more games.
“We need everybody out there, but I just worry, I worry for him.”
Arsenal midfielder and captain Martin Odegaard has insisted that Arsenal will fight till the end in the Title Race.
He said after their 3-1 victory over Chelsea: “Everyone was so hurt after the defeat; we used the anger and the disappointment to get back into this game.
‘You can lose games, but the way we lost, we didn’t play our game and weren’t ourselves, that was the most painful thing, and we wanted to show a different side, and we definitely did.
‘We have to fight and keep going. We believe and will fight until the end.’
