Chelsea played out a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspurs at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Kalidou Koulibaly gave Chelsea the lead in the 19 minute after volleying home Marc Cucurella corner kick. Spurs equalized in the 68-minute through Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s low strike into the bottom corner. Thomas Tuchel was furious with the referee Anthony Taylor following Bentancur foul on Kai Havertz in the build-up to the goal.
Richarlison was in an offside position before Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg kicked the ball. The goals resulted in a heated exchange between Antonio Conte and Thomas Tuchel as the Chelsea manager believes the goal should not have stood and that Anthony Taylor and his team should have ruled the goal as offside or given the initially on Kai Havertz.
Reece James restored Chelsea’s lead 13 minutes later after receiving a fine pass from Raheem Sterling in the Tottenham penalty box. Harry Kane found himself unmarked in the injury time of the game to head from a close range to give Spurs a point from Stamford Bridge. But again, there is a question mark on Kane’s equalizer after Christian Romero was seen pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair.
Reece James who was Chelsea’s top performer on Sunday game believes none of the Tottenham goals should have stood.
What did Reece James say about the officiating of the game?
The Chelsea right wing-back told reports after the game, saying: “I think we should have won the game.
“There were two arguable goals for them. I think the referees and the fourth official need to look back on them. It’s frustrating for us when you deserve to win the game.
“I don’t know what they [the officials] were looking at, but we have to take the positives from the game. We were all over them throughout the game.
“I love scoring and I was in the right position. I just like helping the team as much as I can.”
Thomas Tuchel and the Chelsea fans think two major bad referee decision want against them on Sunday.
“I don’t think just some of the fans think that. I can assure you the whole dressing room of us, every single person, thinks that.
“ I can’t understand how the first goal is not offside and I can’t understand when a player is pulled by their hair, the other player stays on the pitch. Pull someone else’s hair, stay on the pitch and attack the last corner.
“This is for me without any explanation and I don’t want to accept it. Both goals should not stand and it’s a fair result because we were brilliant, and deserved to win. This is my point of view.”
This is not the first time the Chelsea fand, player, and Thomas Tuchel had complained about the way Anthony Taylor officiate Chelsea games.
Last season, Chelsea fans signed a petition online to prevent Anthony Taylor from officiating their games in the Premier League again. He (Anthony Taylor) is believed to hold a grudge against Chelsea.
“Not only the fans. You know the players, they know what’s going on when they are on the pitch. They know it.”
