According to Chris Murphy, the Senate needs to enact legislation to minimize the amount of bloodshed caused by guns.

On Wednesday, a senator from the Democratic party delivered an impassioned speech before the Senate. During his speech, he asked his colleagues several times to say, “What exactly are we going to do? What are we doing this for?”

After the killing that took place in Uvalde, Texas, Senator Chris Murphy clasped his hands together and pleaded with his colleagues to take legislative action to prevent other shootings of a large number of people. Murphy has long been a stalwart supporter of legislation to restrict access to firearms, and he made a passionate plea on Wednesday for lawmakers on all sides of the aisle to reach a consensus on legislation to reduce the risk of gun violence.
