According to authorities, a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, resulted in “multiple” civilian injuries and at least four fatalities, including the shooter.
Three people were killed, and at least two law enforcement personnel were injured in a “active shooter” event, according to police in Farmington, New Mexico, on Monday afternoon. There are “multiple” additional civilian victims, according to officials.
Two officers, one from the Farmington Police Department and the other from the New Mexico State Police, were shot, according to a statement from the police, and they are both currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
“The San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the New Mexico State Police, and the Farmington Police Department are on the scene conducting an investigation into an incident involving an active shooter in Farmington. We currently know that there were several Farmington Police Department officers involved in an officer-involved shooting. On-site confrontation led to the death of one suspect. There are currently no reported threats, and the identity of the suspect remains unclear. Two police officers were shot, one from the Farmington Police Department and the other from the New Mexico State Police; both are being treated for their wounds at the San Juan Regional Medical Center and are in stable condition. There are numerous civilian victims, including at least three fatalities, according to the police department.
