Levi Caverly, who was 18 years old and from Maine, was found dead as a result of the fall, while his sister, who was 17 years old, was rescued by emergency personnel.
A New Jersey dispatch call detailed the frantic efforts of first responders to save an 18-year-old boy and his 17-year-old sister after a hole they had dug at the beach collapsed. The hole had been dug by the pair themselves.
At Ocean Beach, which is located close to Toms River, New Jersey, on the eastern side of the state, a first responder reports to a dispatcher that there are ” Two people have been buried alive by the sand. It took place on Tuesday afternoon at about four o’clock in the afternoon. Despite their best efforts, emergency personnel was unable to rescue 18-year-old Levi Caverly before he fell into the 10-foot crater that collapsed. During the few hours that the operation lasted, those tasked with saving his sister dug into the sand on their bellies while also making use of a machine that removed the sand.
