Must-Haves For Your RVing Trip

You should invest in an RV if you are adventurous and love exploring new places. An RV, or recreational vehicle in full, is a convenient way of touring the country, as it is like a home on wheels. If you have an RV, you are good to travel to the places you want if you can spare the time. Additionally, it is roomy and can accommodate a family or a group of friends.

When preparing for an RV trip, you should have a checklist on your hand to see what you need for the road. The following are must-haves for your RVing trip.

Food

You have to eat while on the trip. You may eat at eateries in different spots on the road. The problem with the eateries is that you are not sure if you will find them operational or the food may be bad. Avoid such shortcomings by stocking food in your vehicle.

The good thing with RVs is that they are spacious, allowing you to keep food in the fridge or cabinets. It also has a kitchen where you can prepare food. Carry meat, cereal, bread, fruits and veggies, canned foods, and various condiments like salt and pepper. Your RV kitchen should resemble your home kitchen, though on a smaller scale.

Furthermore, have enough water in jerricans. Use different containers to separate drinking water from that of domestic use. Keep drinking water in a fridge or water dispenser. Have some snacks to calm down the occasional cravings on your trip.

Utensils

You must pack the right utensils to cook your food on your trip. Have pots, pans, enough mugs, plates and cutlery, potholders, napkins, and more. You can bring a portable grill aboard if you fancy an occasional barbecue on your adventures. Additionally, you should have cleaning utilities like soap to have the RV in good shape after a meal.

Minimalism is the way to go if you are out for a short trip lasting a few days. Here, you may use disposable utensils to ensure that you travel light. Remember to have a dustbin in the vehicle to contain the trash. Disposable plastic bags can do the trick.

Power Backup

As an RVer, you know how frustrating it can get when you don’t have power. You need a power backup source to avoid getting stranded on the road. While a generator is a go-to solution for many RVers, it is quite bulky and needs regular maintenance, which can be expensive.

A worthy answer to a power problem is the EBL portable powerstation 1000W, which you can use to charge most of your electronics. It is compact and light; thus, you can effortlessly carry it from one place to another. Moreover, it is eco-friendly, as it uses solar power, and maintaining it is a walk in the park.

Other impressive features of this power station are its wireless charging capability and SOS LED lighting. The 1000W review provides more info on this utility, such as how to use it.

Toiletries

The RV being your temporary residence, needs you to have toiletries for hygiene. Shop for toiletries the same way you do for your bathroom. The following are things to have in the vehicle’s bathroom.

  • Soap and showering gel
  • EnoughToothbrushes and toothpaste for all occupants
  • Mouthwash
  • Towels
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Floss
  • Lotion and sunscreen
  • Toilet paper

Pick small portions if you are in for a short journey.

Vehicle Repair and Maintenance Utilities

Before starting your trip, you should carry out an all-round inspection and maintenance of the RV. Proper maintenance saves you from being stranded on the road or a similar occurrence. In addition, you should have your toolbox with you and other utilities such as gas and oil. Store the fluids in secure containers to prevent spills, which can be hazardous.

In case you get a flat, you need spare wheels and a tire repair kit. Wheel blocks are critical to securing the vehicle to stop it from moving. Tire chains are a must-have accessory if you will be driving in snowy areas. Other essentials are a flashlight, jumper cables, a backup battery, a shovel, and duct tape.

A Tent

A tent is handy if you want to camp when on the road. You should get enough tents, depending on how many people prefer sleeping outdoors. If you have a tent, you will need a shovel to clear the ground and make holes for pegs. Plus, you should have light mattresses or sleeping bags and lawn chairs.

You may install a retractable awning for shade when you want to rest outside the RV. Some vehicles come with preinstalled awnings, saving you from the hassles of fixing one.

Medical Supplies

Your first aid kit should not miss on the list of must-have items for the road trip. You may encounter several hurdles on the road, which you can beat courtesy of the meds in the first aid kit. Have painkillers, insect repellant, sanitizer, antiseptic, and bandages in the kit. Also, stock up on prescribed meds if you are on medication.

Relevant Documents

You must have the right document, especially if traveling out of the state or country. The documents include your identification, vehicle insurance, registration, and relevant licenses. You should check the requirements of traveling to your destination and get them to avoid hassles with authority on your trip.

Navigation Tools

In the past, you had to carry a map and maybe a compass when on the road for navigation. Presently, you need a navigation app, such as Google Maps, to help you find your way. New RV models have navigators to guide you. Nonetheless, it won’t hurt to have a map if your phone blacks out and you cannot access the app.
