85-year-old Motown icon Smokey Robinson has vehemently denied sexual assault allegations brought against him by four former housekeepers in a $50 million lawsuit. The allegations, detailed in a legal complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, have shocked the music industry and fans worldwide.
The lawsuit, filed by four women identified as Jane Doe 1, Jane Doe 2, Jane Doe 3, and Jane Doe 4, accuses Robinson of multiple counts of sexual assault and creating a hostile work environment. The women, who worked for Robinson over various periods, claim they were subjected to repeated sexual assaults and other forms of abuse.
Jane Doe 1: Employed from January 2023 to February 2024, she alleges she was sexually assaulted at least seven times during her tenure.
Jane Doe 2: Worked from May 2014 to February 2020 and claims she was raped at least 23 times.
Jane Doe 3: Employed from February 2012 to April 2024, she asserts Robinson raped her at least 20 times.
Jane Doe 4: Worked from October 2006 to April 2024 and alleges she was first raped in 2007, with the assaults continuing until her resignation.
In addition to the sexual assault claims, the women accuse Robinson of failing to pay minimum wage, denying rest breaks, and creating a hostile work environment. Frances Robinson, Smokey’s wife, is also named in the lawsuit for allegedly contributing to the hostile environment and failing to take corrective action.

In a statement provided to The Daily Mail, Smokey Robinson expressed his shock and denial of the allegations. He said, “I am appalled by these accusations. I cannot comment further at this time, but I will be working with my legal team to address these claims and clear my name.”
Robinson, a legendary figure in the music industry, is known for his contributions to Motown and his iconic hits like “My Girl” and “The Tracks of My Tears.”
Robinson’s legal team has not yet provided a detailed response to the specific allegations, but they are expected to file a formal response in court in the coming weeks.
The allegations have the potential to significantly impact Robinson’s legacy and career. Motown, the record label he helped found, has not yet issued a statement on the matter. However, this case is likely to influence how Robinson’s contributions to music are remembered and celebrated.
