More than 20 Killed in Sudan Military Plane Crash After Aircraft’s Takeoff

On Tuesday, 25, 2025, a Sudanese army plane crashed in a residential area near the Wadi Seidna military airport in northern Omdurman killing over 20 people, including military personnel and civilians, military and medical sources said on Wednesday.

According to sources, the plane crash plane crash was most likely due to technical reasons.

Among those killed was Major General Bahr Ahmed, a senior commander in Khartoum who previously served as the commander of the army across the entire capital.

On Tuesday, the Sudanese army said a statement several military personnel and civilians were killed in the incident, but did not provide further details.

However, the Health Ministry said at least 20 people were killed, whose bodies were transferred to the Nau hospital in Omdurman. The hospital also received five injured civilians, including two young siblings.

The Ministry said that the aircraft crashed over a civilian house in the Karrari district in Omdurman, suggesting that there were people dead on the ground.
