Before Carl Colston, 47, drove away, the victim took a picture of him.
A man in Maryland who was reportedly trying to be a police officer was caught when he pulled over a victim who called the police.
On July 8, 47-year-old Carl Colston tried to stop traffic on the Greenbelt Road off-ramp at 201 Northbound in the city of Greenbelt. A victim told Greenbelt Police that Colston drove behind him in his black Crown Victoria, honking and flashing his white interior lights.
The victim gave Colston a sign to go around him, and Colston did so while showing a badge. Colston then stopped in the road, forcing the victim to also stop. He then drove back behind the victim like a police officer and tried to pull him over for speeding.
The person Colston attacked told police that he wore a Maryland Marshal combat vest, showed a badge, said he was an officer and used a small radio to call for help. Then Colston grabbed his black gun but did not point it at the victim. He raised the gun so the victim could see it.
The victim told Colston he was calling the cops and recording him, so Colston went back to his car and drove away.
A few days later, on July 13 at 9:10 p.m., during a traffic stop, police caught Colston.
Anyone who may have talked to Colston while he was pretending to be a cop is asked to call the police.
