It was in 1977 when Luke Skywalker’s Mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi explained the Lightsaber in the first Star Wars strip:
“The weapon of a Jedi knight. Not as clumsy and inaccurate as firearms. An elegant weapon from civilized days.”
And honest: Everyone who saw and heard for the first time as a Lightsaber was so enthusiastic that only one thought could appear: “Want to have!” Well, as an choice we wandered round in the darkish with flashlights, and the heritage noise – this unmistakable Metallic sums – used to be as an alternative conceived or very poor.
The origins of the fascinating light swords are 25,000 years ago within the war of star mythology: the forerunners of the Jedi and the Sith bundled their powers to sword-like blades that are difficult to control. After various modifications and thousands of years, each Jedi or Sith builds their own Lightsaber as part of the training. The blade color, the causing noise and the vibration of the blade is determined by the carrier of the Lightsaber, so that the Lightsaber has become an expression of the personality of the fighter. Increased readers can learn more about the functions and background of the fictional fencing weapons on Jedipedia.
Base-lit sabers are one of the top-performing dueling Lightsabers whereby the illumination of the blade is completed thru a single high-powered LED. The hilt is the key here; it controls the glints of the blade, recharges the battery thru the in-hilt port, and affords a huge area for real-time Cosplay.
Now very few of us have a master at hand to breed the crystals required, should also be difficult for many. How practical that we cannot earn light swords in our world during our training, but simply buy finished swords. Let’s look at what the market has to offer:
The plastic death shock: Star Wars E7 Kylo Ren Lightsaber
In the simplest version, Hasbro’s Lightsaber Star Wars E7 from Kylo Ren comes. Plastic is predominant here – this Lightsaber is sufficient for the carnival costume party in the neighborhood, but you will not impress anyone at a convention. These plastic sabs have existed for several years and occasionally appear in a new execution-in the design, Hasbro remained essentially loyal to this favorable variant.
The “Star Wars-the awakening of the power” edition of the Kylo Ren-Sahel is already presenting Hasbro, including possible sources of supply, on his website. The whole thing also exists in a deluxe edition: the light dagger is included here.
More realistic & willing to change: Star Wars Anakin – Darth Vader
This Lightsaber is a crucial piece of Star Wars cult history from Episode III: the transformation of the Anakin to the well-known Darth Vader. The power of the color change is with you: you can convert the blade color from Anakin blue to Darth Vader-Rot. If you switch from blue to red, Darth Vader’s breathing sounds. A pretty cool Lightsaber with a stately length of 90cm.
Hasbro has not dispensed with plastic here either – the feel may suffer from this, which is probably a matter of taste. In any case, it makes a lot of things due to the color change and the story behind it.
High quality processed: Star Wars the Black Series Yoda’s Force FX Lightsaber
Hasbro wants to score with the Star Wars the Black Series Force FX series with a bombastic sound. From here it is also worthwhile for collectors. The Force FX Lightsabers are not only available from Yoda, but also in the colors of Luke Skywalker or Darth Wader, so you can become a Jedi or Sith.
Not only is the feel much more pleasant with this Lightsaber, since plastic has been exchanged for metal. The sabers slowly run out the light beam and movement sensors ensure suitable sound effects that match the respective character.
End with replicas: Exciting Lightsaber alternatives
Hasbro has the official license on replicas of original Star Wars-light swords, but other manufacturers also have good ideas. Sure, owning an original Star Wars light sword is nice, but the manufacturer’s competition can offer very exciting alternatives:
One even manufactures individual Lightsabers in all conceivable sizes and shapes – including highlights such as removable blades, sound effects and various accessories. You can determine everything from your Lightsaber yourself: from the handle to the noises to other lighting effects. The sabers are milled into aluminum and manufactured from high -quality components. Made for the serious Star Wars enthusiast, the manufacturer has to do without the official Star Wars license, but in view of the hot devices, no one should miss this license. The prices at Ultra Sabers start at human $ 55, the price boundaries are very open.
Another license -free manufacturer is Park Saber. Individual light swords are modeled from the cinema screen according to the models. You will not find names or labels such as on the licensed replicas on the swords, but very high -quality materials. The prices start at around $ 220, and here too there are hardly any limits.
Star Wars: A YouTuber constructs an (almost) functioning Lightsaber
“Star Wars: Episode VII – the awakening of power” only celebrated the world premiere on December 14, 2015, from December 17th. To fill the cinemas in this country too. Shortly after the appearance of the 7th episode of the cult film, the YouTuber “Styr pyro” made the work of building a Lightsaber that comes from the films at least very close to the original. It is by no means a plastic or metallic mockup, but a more or less real Lightsaber, as you know it from Star Wars.
As a handle, the YouTuber simply used a flashlight. In it found a nichia gan laser diode and a lithium-ion battery. Incidentally, according to Styr pyro, it is thanks to this battery that a Lightsaber can be constructed at all: Finally, batteries are small enough to install it inconspicuously, but still supply the sword with sufficient performance. Unfortunately, Styr pyro has not yet limited the length of his blade, and the laser performance is currently so strong that every person who catches the laser would immediately go blind. That is why protective clothing is appropriate and it is not really suitable for everyday use. But watching is still fun.
