Israel’s attack on Hamas in Gaza would most certainly last months, according to the country’s military leader on Tuesday.
“The war will last many months, and we will use various methods to maintain our achievements for a long time,” Chief of General Staff Herzi Halevi said in a televised statement from the Gaza border.
“There are no magic solutions, there are no short cuts in dismantling a terrorist organization, only determined and persistent fighting,” Halevi went on to say. “We will reach Hamas’ leadership too, whether it takes a week or if it takes months.”
After Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel on October 7, murdering 1,200 people and capturing 240 captives, Israel pledged to obliterate them. According to officials, its air, sea, and land onslaught in Gaza has killed approximately 21,000 Palestinians.
“We said from its first moments that this would be a long war because it was right to set far-reaching goals and we will reach far, that’s why the duration will be long.” According to Halevi, the period will allow the military to alter its procedures.
“Will we be able to say, in the end, that there is no enemy surrounding the state of Israel?” “I believe that is overly ambitious, but we will create a new security situation,” Halevi stated.
