After months of speculations, Chelsea finally signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona for £10 million. The Gabonese international signed a two-year contract with an option to extend for the third.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will wear the number 9 jersey at Chelsea. The Chelsea signing of the 33-year-old striker has been applauded by many pundits, who believe his arrival will help solve Chelsea’s goal-scoring problems.

The Blues currently depend on their new signing Raheem Sterling as their main source goals. The England international has contributed to 50 percent of goals scored by Chelsea so far this season in the Premier League.

Aubameyang is not new to Premier League, he was one of the best players in the Premier League during his time at Arsenal. He won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2019 along to follow African compatriots Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

He scored 68 goals and provided 16 assists in 128 Premier League appearances for Arsenal. The former Arsenal skipper also scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for Barcelona during his six months spell at the club.

Thomas Tuchel also has a good relationship with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The two worked together at Borussia Dortmund. The Gabonese international made 95 appearances under Thomas Tuchel scoring 79 goals.

Jamie Carragher admitted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a very good signing and has the qualities to impact the Chelsea team.

What did Jamie Carragher say on Chelsea’s signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang?

The former Liverpool defender told SkySports, saying: “He’s a quality player, there is no doubt about that. I think it’s a good signing.

“People may question Arsenal’s role in this and the fact they let him go for free, and now Chelsea is paying money for him 12 months later.

“I think it’s a good signing for Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea, and also the right decision from Mikel Arteta – look at where Arsenal are right now.

“We know Aubameyang brings goals and quality but at times there are maybe situations and misdemeanors off the pitch or within the dressing room and Arteta couldn’t stand for that.

“But Tuchel knows him well from their time at Borussia Dortmund and, as a neutral, I’m delighted he’s back in the Premier League because he’s a brilliant player.”

The new Chelsea owner has shown commitment to continuing Roman Abramovich’s legacy at Chelsea by backing Thomas Tuchel in the transfer market.

Chelsea is the highest spending club in the Premier League and Europe. The blues have spent over 230 million in the transfer market.

Quizzed if Thomas faces pressure following their record-breaking summer transfer spending: “Yes, that is the name of the game for any top club, and that has always been the situation at Chelsea.

“It will be interesting to see if the change in ownership changes how ruthless the club was with managers under Roman Abramovich.

“But, for me, Thomas Tuchel is one of the best managers in Europe, he’s a Champions League winner, and right now in the Premier League, it’s been tough competing with Manchester City and Liverpool.

“Chelsea did need a rejig at center-back given the players they lost, so you can understand why they have had to go into the market. But there is no doubt they have paid big money for some of the players.”
