In his first general election ad, Kemp aims at Abrams over her ‘worst state…to live’ remark.
It is anticipated that the race between Kemp and Abrams will be one of the most expensive races for governor in recent memory.
In his first general election television advertisement, Republican Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia aims at Democratic challenger Stacey Abrams over her comment from earlier this month that Georgia is “the worst state in the country to live.” This comes as their high-profile rematch for the governorship of Georgia in 2022 draws closer. Kemp is running against Abrams again.
The advertisement, which had its debut on authorities on Tuesday, brags that Kemp has “kept Georgia as the best place to live” in the aftermath of the widespread coronavirus pandemic and that the governor “reopened Georgia first.”

Abrams said in a speech on May 21 that she is “tired of hearing about how we’re the best state in America to do business when we are the worst in the United States.” The commercial will be aired on statewide TV and internet platforms in the six-figure range, according to Kemp’s team. The ad highlighted this speech. Kemp’s team said that it is spending in the high six figures.
Abrams noted at the time of her comment that Georgia possesses a great deal of untapped potential for advancement in a variety of domains, including mental health and incarceration, among others. Later, on the day of the primary election in Georgia, Abrams confirmed her previous statements to reporters. Kemp and other Republicans were quick to condemn her for her words.
